In an interview with popular Nollywood actress, Nancy Isime, popular singer Peter Okoye revealed that he’s not afraid of death and why he’s afraid of being poor and it all revolves around the childhood experience he had, especially with the number of persons that they were, living in a one-room apartment. One thing some people tend to forget is that not everyone that’s rich today actually came from a very rich background but rather from a very poor one, and you won’t know about it until someday they tend to tell you their story; how they managed to grow from grass to grace; the hurdles that they passed through to get to that top; and why they won’t want to go back there again.

During the interview with Nancy Isime, Peter Okoye said that the only thing he’s scared of is poverty. He further revealed that when he was younger, they used to live in a one-bedroom apartment and there were 6 boys and 2 girls, together with their parents, which made them 10 in number, all staying there.

He stated more that they had to divide the room with a curtain, which served as both a bedroom and a sitting room, but what made it so unbearable for them was when a bulldozer came one day and destroyed their home, because the landlord sold the place and couldn’t give them enough time to leave. In his words, “I’ve tasted poverty before.”
