The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese in Sokoto, Bishop Matthew Kukah has reacted to the report that Saturday protesters burnt his residence. Recall that there have been several unrests after multiple reports had it that some Sokoto Youths have taken to the street to demand the release of the suspects who were arrested for the death of Deborah Samuel on Thursday.
However, the protest which was meant to be peaceful degenerated into violence as the protesters storm the Catholic and ECWA Church in Sokoto, allegedly setting it on fire. There were also some reports that Bishop Matthew Kukah’s residence was targeted too. Meanwhile, while speaking to The Cable, the Bishop debunked the report, saying that his residence was not attacked by the protesters.
