Reno Omokri, an aide to former president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is one of the most vocal political commentators on social media.
As expected, Mr Omokri commented on the arrest of the serving Accountant General of Federation, Ahmed Idris, for alleged money laundering.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) released a statement on the arrest of the Ahmed Idris accusing him of laundering 80 billion Naira.
According to the anti-graft agency’s spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, the serving Accountant General was arrested he failed to honour their invitation.
Reno Omokri sees the arrest as a reason for the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to continue their strike. He tweeted that the demands of the union could be met if the government should recover the 80 billion Naira from Ahmed Idris.
He urged ASUU to continue their strike until all their requests have been granted. The tweet reads:
“If the Accountant General of the Federation can steal ₦80 billion, you have no reason to end your strike. Ask Buhari to use the stolen ₦80 billion to pay you and keep the change. After all, the money ASUU is asking for is not even up to ₦80 billion!”
