The Battle of Kharkiv has been declared a victory for Ukraine, as Russian forces retreated after being defeated by Ukrainain counter-offensives to drive out the Russian forces away from the city.
Ukrainian forces have also discovered railway refrigerated wagons in Kharkiv filled with dead Russian soldiers, left behind by their comrades.
Russian units operating around Kharkiv have returned to Russia, with Ukrainian troops from the 127th Territorial Defense Brigade reaching the common border with Russia and reporting to Ukrainian Pres. Volodymyr Zelenskyy that they’ve pushed the Russians out and won the battle.
It now remains what the Russians and Ukrainians will do next, as it is expected that the retreating Russian forces would be re-equipped and redeployed to the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine to support existing Russian forces in the area.
It is also believed that Ukrainian forces are preparing to push its momentum to include completely driving Russian forces away from remaining pockets north and east of Kharkiv, while also preparing to intensify its counter-offensive in the city of Izyum, southeast of Kharkiv, as the Ukrainian Armed Forces receive more heavy weapons and freshly-trained troops.
