The political spectrum of Ayamelum Constituency has been immersed with the continued endorsement of the Speaker Anambra State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Uche Victor Okafor for Continuity, following his purposeful and inclusive representation of every community of over the past years.
Okafor who emerged as Speaker of the 7th Anambra Assembly on June 12, 2019, has continued to receive massive support from grassroots, including various stakeholders, communities, groups, as well as key stakeholders of the Anambra terrain.
The massive support gained by Okafor from all and sundry has thrown the opponents in disarray and chaos.
Notably, the flawless victory Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in the last governorship election where the Honourable Speaker dared the opposition parties and defeated them flawlessly despite the brimestones they threatened to unleash on him.
The defeat which left the oppositions in diluted state returned them to their respective shelves.
The emergence of uproars from the opposition camps in a view to discredit the reputation of Rt. Hon. Okafor resorted to laying claims on zoning which they vehemently rejcted as contained in the public document and resolution of the Ayamelum Leaders of Thought dated Thursday, August 8, 2019 and April 10, 2022 communiqué, respectively.
Recall that Hon. Barr. Ikegbunam Onuorah from Omor (Central) was the then PDP candidate for Ayamelum State Assembly, He was however, defeated perfectly by Rt. Hon. Okafor in the 2015 House of Assembly election.
It is worthy to note also that in the 2019 House of Assembly election, Hon. Emma Oforle of the APGA from Omor (Central) contested against Okafor of same APGA and he was defeated at the party primary election held at the Ayamelum Secretariate, Anaku.
The defeat prompted Oforle to decamp from APGA. He contested in the main election and couldn’t get votes from his polling unit.
In the same 2019 election, Barr. Paul Anyagbuna of the PDP from Omor (Central) contested again and failed even in his kindred.
According to a reliable source, the originators of the article titled, “Ayamelum Disowns Anambra Speaker Over Third Term Aspiration” are fraction of persons under the umbrella of the opposition parties who appear to have sworn to distabilize and overturn the principle of majority rule upon which democratic principles are established.
Sources reveled that the same people drooping the notion of House of Assembly zoning in Ayamelum Constitunecy have been contesting same position over these past years and because they couldn’t attain a win, they now resort to character assassination approach.
Ayamelum community leaders are weary of their antics because Ayamelum constituency is dominated by APGA members and they believe dearly in the effective representation of Rt. Hon. Uche Victor Okafor hence the massive endorsement trailing the people’s legislator par excellence.
