The continuous change in dates and modalities of the primaries of the All progressives Congress ( APC) have made aspirants and other party faithfuls skeptical about the intention of the Party for the 2023 general elections.
In Kogi State, the illegality by the Party has continued to manifest even in the supposedly ongoing House of Assembly primaries in the state where the Chief of Staff to the Governor Pharm. Jamiu Asuku came up with a list of persons he wants in the State House of Assembly in 2023 to champion his gubernatorial ambition billed for a later date in 2023.
As at the morning of today, 26th of May 2022, it was gathered that the appropriate return forms for all primary elections ( Houses of Assembly, Reps and Senate) in Kogi State were being filled in the office of the chief of staff, allocating fictitious figures to aspirants in the race with his own candidates scoring majority of votes and fake materials sent to the various units. This arrangement cannot be done outside the knowledge of INEC officials who are supposed to monitor the primaries.
Aspirants and a section of stakeholders in the state had for long cried out to the National body to save the situation which had come up since the forms were open for sales with the argument that winning the election was one thing and winning the general elections was another thing entirely.
The Governor of the state of the State Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello is a contestant in the APC presidential Primaries who claim to believe in equity and fairness.
