President Buhari Attends ECOWAS Summit In Ghana

President Muhammadu Buhari Satuday left Abuja for Accra, Ghana to attend an Extraordinary Summit of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government on the political situation in Mali and other parts of the sub-region.

 Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, in a statement said that the president was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, National Security Adviser, Maj-Gen Babagana Monguno (retd) and the director-general, National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ahmed Rufa’i Abubakar.

He stated that the summit, which will hold at the Presidential Palace, Accra, also known as Jubilee House, is expected to review the progress made by Mali’s military junta on the return of the country to democratic rule.

Adesina added that the heads of state would also review the situation in Burkina Faso and Guinea.

The presidential aide stated that the president would return to Abuja same day at the end of the summit.
