Nigerian author and political commentator, Reno Omokri has reacted to reports of a possible merger between Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Hours ago, reports surfaced online that the two presidential candidates could reach a consensus and merge their parties together to become a bigger party for better chances of winning the 2023 election. Meanwhile, Reno Omokri has offered his two cents’worth regarding the issue.

Reno Omokri said that the proposed merger is an excellent idea but noted that there’s still a problem that would need to be solved by both parties. He said the problem is that who will step down for the other person and become the vice president since they are both gunning for the top office.

Reno Omokri said he knows that Rabiu Kwankwaso will not want to relinquish the presidential position to Peter Obi and questioned if Peter Obi is ready to accept to play a second fiddle role if the proposed merger eventually happens.

He wrote on Twitter;

“The proposed Kwankwaso-Peter Obi. NNPP-Labour Party merger is an excellent idea.

The only problem is who will be the Presidential candidate and who will his vice?

Kwankwaso would naturally want the top of the ticket, but will Peter Obi accept a second fiddle role?”
