Buhari visits Rwanda Genocide memorial, lays Wreath

President Muhammadu Buhari visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial site on Thursday as part of his official programme during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting holding in Kigali, Rwanda.

The president who was accompanied by top Government officials from Nigeria watched a short video of the Genocide before he was led to lay a wreath.

The Kigali Genocide Memorial was set up to commemorate the death of over 250,000 victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi in 1994. The Memorial site
serves as a place where the bereaved could bury their family and friends.

Earlier on Wednesday, Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall
visited the Genocide Memorial. They were accompanied by
Rwanda’s President Kagame and the first lady Jeannette Kagame.
