Penultimate week, history was once again, made when the Governorship flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu state, Barr. Peter Mbah, at the State Secretariat of the Party in Enugu State, unveiled another learned, young, energetic, inspiring, innovative, complementary and generally loved fellow, Barr. Ifeaniyi Ossai from Ezimo in Udenu local government Area, as his running mate in the February 2023 general elections in the state.
The unforeseen surfacing of Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai in the political scene as ‘deputy’ to the ruling party’s flag bearer (Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah), threw a lot of political calculators off board once again, as they had, prior to the political development bandied big names across Enugu North Senatorial zone as possible running mates to Barr. Mbah candidature. Some of these carriers of unknown information even went as far as attributing their personal opinions on the subject above to unnamed sources in the corridors of power, just to suit their claims.
But politics is not their mate. In my recent opinion article, published across blogs in Enugu State, with the caption, “Enugu 2023: The Peter Mbah-Phobia”, I had stated in clear terms that “politics has remained what it is: the game of intrigues, shenanigans and one of the most generally loved ventures by humans, with so many uncertainties, astonishments, heartbreaks, upsets, and above all, bewilderment. This is what politics represents in my wide thoughts. And it keeps producing results that have continued to revalidate, reaffirm and reconfirm this stance over and over without contradiction.
It is a game where two plus two can produce nine as an answer with correctness, boldly written on it. This has happened over time, and has continued to be replayed in different ways. The declaration of fourth runner-up in an election as Governor of Imo State is one of those examples. The emergence of Governor Diri of Bayelsa state, after he was beaten silly during the governorship election in that state, remains another wonder of politics. The list is endless.
Be that is it may, the recent pairing of Barr. Ifanyi Ossai as running mate to Barr. Peter Mbah, the PDP governorship flag bearer in the February 2023 general elections in Enugu state, is a beautiful combo. Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, who recently, after he was unveiled running mate, buried his mother in his country home at Ezimo, just like his principal (Barr. Mbah), is an intermediary between the young and the old in the state.
Barr. Ossai, just like his Governorship flag-bearer is daring, adventurous, brave, courageous, intelligent, brilliant, innovative, inspiring and above all, generally accepted in the zone. He would best, complement Barr. Peter Mbah, who from his commitment, transformed pinnacle oil into an amazing venture of repute, with so many persons admiring his passion and dedication to this enterprise. To take it a notch higher, there is even a saying out there that whatever Barr. Peter Mbah touches turns to gold. A short story for another day.
The above enunciated excellence if brought to bear in Enugu State, after their swearing-in in 2023, would leave the state on the threshold of history as one of the most prosperous states in the country and Africa at large. This is why the combination of these two young men who are not afraid of venturing into emerging developments, can best be described as “Beautiful Combo.”
Congratulations once again, to Barr. Peter Mbah and Ifeanyi Ossai! May this beautiful combo transform our dear state into everything excellent as we count down to 2023.
