The Provost Anambra State Collage of Nursing Sciences, Nkpor. Dr. Mrs. Juliana Nwazuroke has said with the merging of School of Nursing and Nursing and Midwifery together making them a collage, there are certain provisions that must be put in place by government before they can pass accreditation.

The Provost in an interview with newsmen after the 2022 reverse budget defense in Awka, the Provost highlighted the challenges confronting the institution.

“We are supposed to have a college building with administrative Officers. Buildings that will house the different departments. The once we have are delapidated.

“If we are going to have National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND), then we need to have resource verification which we are praying it will come these year because it is one on the conditions for us to pass accreditation.

“By the end of these year, if we don’t scale through these accreditations, then nursing training in Anambra state will come to an end because that is the police of Nursing and Midwifery.

“The Anambra State government took a good decision by merging School of Nursing and Nursing and Midwifery together making them a collage which has been approved. It is now left for us to do the needful.

“To become a college, we also need to make sure we have requisite equipments, lectures, academic and non academic staff, good source of water supply, electricity and security.

“The government will do us a lot of favor by constructing the Nkpor old road (Our ladies bus-stop to the school), that road is unpassable. These have brake our vehicles because it must use that road on a daily basis.

“The school needs fensing. We have complained severally. The neighborhood uses there for dumping of refuse. How can we use a health institution as a dumping ground.

” The former Commissioner for health visited it and it’s not a task the school can do on its own. We need different bodies that will come and check the erosion, put up the fensing to ensure security of our students who leave inside the school.

” We now have a large number of students so we need an auditorium and big classrooms. These are some of the specifications that will be looked into during accreditation. How soon these will be done is another big question because it is very urgent.
