ISTMA Lists Prohibited Areas For Motorcycle Operation In Owerri, Imo State

Imo State Traffic Management Authority

For the umpteenth time, the Imo State Traffic Management Authority (ISTMA) by the directives of the Honorable Commissioner of Transport, Hon. Barr. Rex Anunobi (Sokom) hereby list out the following areas as prohibited by Imo State laws for motorcycle operation in the state capital:

  1. Owerri Umuahia Road.
  2. Road Safety Junction.
  3. Owerri ABA road.
  4. Naze Junction.
  5. Owerri Port-harcourt Road.
  6. Hospital Junction.
  7. Owerri Orlu Road.
  8. Akwakuma Junction.
  9. Owerri Okigwe Road.
  10. Amawire Orji.
  11. World Bank Junction.
  12. Control-Post by Assumpta.

Prior the this publication and enforcements, these have been officially communicated to the leadership of commercial motorcycle operators in the restricted areas as mutually agreed by both their leadership and the Authority.

This publication is only coming on the heels of the requests made by some respondents in our previous official publication which prompted the Honorable Commissioner who followed the engagements and personally responded to inquiries to order for re-listing of the restricted areas to the public once again for the benefit of the doubts.

The Authority will continue to engage members of the public and all stakeholders in public debates and media engagements with a view of strengthening the principles of feedback mechanism in order to deliver to the people of our dear state quality services of sanitizing the traffic management services.

Equally, the Authority will continue to sensitize Imolites on the need to always obey the traffic rules and regulations as violators will be dealt with in accordance of extant laws.
