Hope rises for Ekweremadu as David Nwamini Ukpo turns around to confess to the British court that he was actually 21 years.
This was the situation today as Ekweremadu appeared in court to face accusations of organ harvest.
With the victim confessing that he is 21 and not a minor, the only charge Ekweremadu and wife face now is the issue of exploitation.
The UK court also ruled that Ekweremadu and wife will be tried in UK and will not transfer the matter to Nigeria.
The trial was adjourned till August 4. Both are to remain in custody till the next hearing.
Many senators including the Senate committee on foreign affairs were at the court in solidarity with Ekweremadu. Others at the Westminster Magistrates Court were former senate minority leader – Eyinnanya Abaribe, former Senate President – David Mark, former Minister of State for Education – Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs – Adamu Bulkachuwa.
