2023 Presidential Contest; A Must For PDP, Atiku/okowa

2023 Presidential Contest

Many Nigerians are disgusted by the insensitivity of the APC flag bearer, Bola Tinubu to pick a Muslim his running mate. Bola is also a Muslim. Whatever made him do that has nailed the political coffin of APC Tinubu Buharists in this coming 2023 elections. Even his APC faithfuls and party leaders are angst, and are drifting in droves to other parties.

The greatest beneficiaries of this APC political misnomer is the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and their Presidential candidate, Dr Atiku Abubakar.

For most Nigerians, the issues of religion triggers too much political adrenaline. Many interpretations always follow any religious decisions, especially in politics in Nigeria.

But the mission of this forum today is to create a perspective in which the personae of Atiku Abubakar will be examined, visa vis his opportunities to becoming the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Atiku Abubakar retired as a Customs Officer; he rose to the position of Deputy Controller of the Customs. He aquitted himself very well in this area of service to his fatherland. No known scandals were associated with his name, nor was he found wanting in service.

He retired meritoriously, and began a political career almost immediately; associating with a well known leader with high Democratic credentials; Gen. Shehu Musa Yar’dua. When Gen Ibrahim Babangida lifted the ban on politics in the early 90, Gen Yar’dua became a major player. That also drew Atiku Abubakar into the foray of the muddy waters of the Nigerian Politics. He learnt fast, but he was very loyal to his political mentor, Yar’dua; who held him in very high esteem because he made valuable contributions in Political discussions, as well as developmental programs that will lift Nigeria up.

He ran for nomination under SDP, then for the office of the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria. The political abracadabra then truncated the political era of that period.

As a Democrat he bided his time, because I believe that the future development of Nigeria has become a big concern for him. We remember that all Abacha’s persuasions to join his government failed because Atiku Abubakar is a confirmed Democrat.

During the 1998 political formations championed by Dr Alex Ekwueme, the G7, the G34, etc, Atiku Abubakar was involved, financially and physically. He believed in the ideals of Democracy.

As one, not too overly ambitious, but humble and determined, he ran for the Governor of Adamawa State and won. But due to his very powerful role in the formation of PDP, his financial and very powerful political contributions, Gen Olusegun Obasanjo brought him to run as his Vice. And they won.

Most of the economic policies and Developmental agendas of PDP regime under Obasanjo were initiated through by the hands of Atiku Abubakar. He was ingenious. Atiku Abubakar has build a thriving wealth creation businesses and most were critical to our country’s development. He cared so much for education that he established a budding world class University, complete with a kindergarten, primary and secondary schools. He did this in Adamawa State to give that part of the country opportunities to also be educated. The first Northerner to think in that direction.

The privatization policies of the PDP federal government were all conceived, initiated and implemented by him, but with the tacit approval of the President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. The country fastly moved forward under the Obasanjo/Atiku regime.

Most eggheads in that administration were brought in by Atiku Abubakar’s recommendations. And all performed. Abuja master plan was restored, our $39 billion Paris Club dept was cancelled..and the country’s developmental and economic profiles rose significantly, after years of stagnation and damage by various military regimes and interagnums.

Atiku Abubakar believes in the Rule of Law, in the total Restructuring of Nigeria, in the economic prosperity of all Nigerians and the development of Nigeria.

His vision centers in;

  1. Restructuring of Nigeria.
  2. Core Economic development of Nigeria.
  3. Quality Education for all.
  4. Technologically developed country.
  5. Massive infrastructural development that will trigger massive production and enhancement of our economy.
  6. Quality Health Centers that will cater for Nigerians of all ages.

Atiku Abubakar is progressively minded, and does everything that will enhance such. All Nigerians should rally round such a leader to ensure that all his noble vision for Nigeria is actualized! Let’s support PDP all the way, so that the story of our development and economic trajectory will change for the better; after this years of unquantifiable damage to all our sectors by Buhari APC regime.
