Counsel to a party in an Enugu land tussle Mohammed Usman has petitioned the Inspector General of Police Usman Alkali Baba, alleging use of men and officers of the FCIID Annex Enugu to undermine investigations in the land matter.
The petitioner Mrs Amaka Ezeonu had obtained approval from the office of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department, Abuja for Investigation into alleged criminal trespass amongst other allegations.
The DIG had consequently directed the Special Enquiries Bureau, SEB, to handle the matter.
In the latest petition dated August 19, 2022 counsel to the complainant noted that the actions and procedure of the SEB team has been commendable.
“It has, however, become pertinent that we forward this petition to bring to your attention the unfortunate actions of the officers of the FCIIB Annex Enugu under the supervision of DCP Fidelis Ogarabe who has taken actions which clearly undermines the Investigation of the SEB and has sustained his parallel Investigation into the matter despite a thorough and most composite Investigation by detectives from the SEB and which detectives have shown professionalism and forthrightness in the course of Investigation.’
The petition further alledged that despite ongoing Investigation the accused persons have continued with their trespass, forcible entry with alleged cover provided by the FCIIB Annex Enugu.
“In view of the sensitive position of DCP Ogarabe, it is our client’s most humble request that you use your good office to come to their aid by causing a consolidation of all complaints and related to, the subject matter of our client’s original petition to the office of the DIG with any other section of the Nigeria Police Force away from the possible interference of the DCP Fidelis Ogarabe in the interest of justice.”
