A former member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Victor Afam Ogene, has described the elevation of Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Ebelendu Okpalaeke of Ekwulobia Diocese, Anambra State, to the rank of a Cardinal as a confirmation of the supremacy of God in the affairs of mankind.
Okpalaeke was one of the new Cardinals unveiled on Saturday, August 27, 2022, by His Holiness, Pope Francis I, at St. Peter’s Basicila, Rome.
Ogene, a Knight of the Catholic Church and Ogbaru Federal Constituency House of Representatives candidate of the Labour Party in the coming 2023 election, said that the creation of His Eminence, Okpalaeke as a Cardinal is well deserving and exudes grace and unfailing love of God.
He said, “I share in the excitement of this glorious recognition and honour of our dear humble, committed and erudite servant of our Lord and saviour, Jesus Christ.
“This soul-lifting, historic event and the unique story of your steadfast stewardship in the vineyard of our Lord, who called you into His service, are not only inspiring and motivating but also veritable life lesson in integrity, patience, and the need to always allow God to be in the driving seat of our affairs in every area of our lives.
“Through this global recognition, you have brought unquantifiable honour and glory to Nigeria and and Anambra, our dear state. And it is my prayer and that of every well meaning Nigerian, that God grant you excellent health, sound mind and wisdom to embark on this new assignment to the upliftment of mankind in the service of God, with grace and integrity to the glory of God.
