When I saw the Press Conference by Barr Ugo Chinyere of CUPP alleging that there were plots to rig the 2023 general elections in favour of APC, I remember that we raised the alarm here when Engr Chidi Nwafor, the Director of ICT was unjustly demoted and transferred to Enugu as Administrative Secretary.
From the evidence tendered by the CUPP Spokesperson, it became obvious why Engr Chidi Nwafor was removed from INEC ICT department.
It was Engr Nwafor who designed the BVAS and helped in training other INEC staff on how to operate it. Those according to the CUPP Spokesperson who uploaded fake voters particulars into the BVAS knew that with Engr Chidi Nwafor, it wouldn’t have been possible.
INEC must come out to explain how these foreign names especially in Omuma ward in Imo state were registered as voters. Another worrying aspect of the allegation from the CUPP is the increase in number of registered voters in Omuma ward. A ward that had a mere 6,000 registered voters in 2019 went up to 46,000 registered voters – what a magic increment.
Omuma ward in Imo state was only a case study. This criminality would have been perpetrated in many other states.
They also filed a secret suit to get the court to nullify the use of BVAS for the 2023 general elections thereby nullifying the electronic transmission of results.
We must be vigilant. Those who didnt read the handwriting on the wall when we cried out over the demotion of Engr Chidi Nwafor should know there is danger.
The old folks who held this country down for years are not resting.
Unfortunately, INEC is aiding this criminality against the Nigerian people.
