Gov Wike’s Actions Led To The Departure Of Peter Obi From PDP To Labour Party – Bwala Claims

Peter Obi, wike

The Spokesperson of Atiku Abubakar’s Presidential Campaign Council, Daniel Bwala, has slammed the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, claiming that his actions forced Peter Obi to defect from PDP to Labour Party, after he stopped zoning of presidency to the south east region of the country.

Mr Bwala made this disclosure during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, on Friday, September 23.

Speaking further, he made it known that when the ticket was to be micro-zoned to the south east, he(Wike) refused because he was interested in it, noting that Wike virtually had everything he wanted. He went on and reminded Nigerians that Wike brought this present PDP Chairman, Iyorcha Ayu.

Bwala said: “…….He (Wike) influenced the emergence of leaders that sat in committees, whether committees for party positions or elective office. At his behest, a recommendation was made that it(presidency) should be thrown open evidently because he is not from the southeast. That led to the departure of Peter Obi. If the zoning thing was followed, Peter Obi or probably the former SGF (Ayim Pius) would have emerged as the presidential candidate of the party…….”

Bwala recalled that when a discussion was being done in the party about zoning, Atiku Abubakar suggested that it should be zoned to either south east or north east, because these two regions have not benefited, but Wike said that he would contest, if the ticket was ever zoned to the south east.

Going with this particular revelation that was made by Daniel Bwala, I really don’t think that Gov Wike’s action was the right one. But nevertheless, politics they say is about self interest.
