…consider the appointment of the sons and daughters of Ukwulu

Construction of major roads in Ukwulu community would help farmers in no small measures in evacuating farm produce from the area to urban cities for sale and make their livings. This was the statement of the Traditional Ruler of Ukwulu Ancient kingdom in Dunukofia Local Government Area, Igwe Peter Anaukwu Uyanwa.
Igwe Uyanwa made the passionate appeal in a message to mark his 2022 Royal New Yam Festival held in his Royal palace. He appealed to Anambra state Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo to also extend his road project in various communities across the state.
Igwe Uyawna, who was a former Chairman Traditional Rulers Council Anambra Central Senatorial district said that majority of the residents of the community are peasant farmers. He described the beginning of this present government in the state under the watch of Governor Chukwuma Soludo as good omen to the people of the state and Ukwulu community has continued to enjoy peace since he was chosen as the Traditional Ruler of the community by the people seven years ago.
The traditional ruler who was passionate about the holistic development of his kingdom, also appealed to Governor Soludo to consider the appointment of the sons and daughters of Ukwulu community in the sensitive positions in his administration ,assuring him that the community has produced capable personalities in various fields of human endeavor who have the required prerequisites to work with him.
Igwe Uyanwa, who recalled that the community gave Governor Soludo bulk votes during the Anambra state governorship election last year, also recalled that it was only in Ukwulu community that a women rejected five thousand naira bribe offered to her by political marauders to vote against APGA at the polls.
He unequivocally commended Governor Soludo for the flagging off of the Amansea-Ebenebe-Ugbenu-Awba-Ifemmili-Umuerium-Omor road, stressing that the gesture demonstrated by him has overtly endeared his administration more to the benefitting communities and entire Ndi- Anambra at large.
While praying for peaceful coexistence in the communities in Dunukofia Local Government Area and Anambra state in General, the Traditional Ruler, assured the people that Governor Soludo as a former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria has all it takes to transform the state for better.
He called on the people of the state to remain resolute in the payment of their taxes so that the present government in the state should have enough funds to work with in its quest to turn around the fortunes of the state in the nearest future.
The traditional ruler further stated that Ukwulu is a peace loving community, appealing to some disgruntled elements in the community who were bent to fomenting trouble in the community to rethink and join forces in an effort to attracting development in Ukwulu community.
In his goodwill message to Igwe Uyanwa, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Chief Collins Nwabunwanne ,described the Royal Father as a highly respected Traditional Ruler in Anambra state ,adding that the celebration of new yam in this part of the world has remained an old culture and traditional bequeathed to Ndigbo by the fore fathers.
Former Vice -Chancellor of Chukwurmeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam Processor Fidelis Okafor, an indigene of Ukwulu community, maintained that Igwe Uyanwa has committed a lot for the development of Ukwulu community, calling on the sons and daughters of the community both at home and in the diaspora to develop the desire in contributing their quota for the development of community as well as pledging their allegiance to the Traditional Ruler’s regime.
He prayed God to touch the hearts of the few individuals in the community who vowed that the community would not have peace so that they should stop fomenting trouble in the community and key in making sure that peace reign in the community at all times.
Professor Angela Nwamuo, the Head of Mass, Communication Department in Chukwuemeka Odumegwe Ojukwu University, Igbariam and the Anambra State Chairman, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, said that they were at the event to show solidarity to Igwe Uyanwa, describing yam as a symbol of Igbo culture, pointing out that no one can perform a ceremony in Igbo land without yam as the king of all crops.
The Traditional Ruler of Amanuke Community in Awka North Local Government Area, Igwe Alphonsus Ezebilo, affirmed that the celebration of the New Yam Festival by Igwe Uyawna would no doubt usher in a lot of good things in Ukwulu community, noting that since seven years of cornoation of Igwe Uyanwa that the community has continued to witnessed a lasting peace.
In a homely during celebration of a holy mass that preceded the event,Reverend Father Greg Eke of Onitsha Archdiocese, maitained that new yam represents life in Igboland as God is all sources of life, adding that the celebration of the new yam was a moment of thanksgiving to God by people for their bumper harvest.
Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra state, represented by his Deputy Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, the Traditional Ruler of Onitsha and the Anambra State Chairman Traditional Rulers Council ,Obi Alfred Achebe, Member representing Anambra central senatorial district in the National Assembly,Senator Uche Ekwunife ,Commissioner for Home Land Affairs,Chief Chikaodili Anara were physically present at the event to pay homage to the Mornach .
Others are the Vice-Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam Professor Greg Nwakobi,represented by the Deputy -Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor, Mathias Anyati,Priests and parishioners of Saint Theresa Catholic Church Ukwulu, Members of Fathers Club of Nigeria of which Igwe is a member and the entire Ukwulu Town Union Executives among others.
