Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has banned casinos and gambling institutions, including BetNaija, from operating there due to suspected “hidden deals.” The gambling websites Bet9ja, 1960bet, Nairabet, 9jaPredict, and BetNigeria are extensively used by Nigerians. The commissioners for homeland affairs, Mr. Chikodi Anara, the chairman of the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Richard Madiebo, and the commissioner for culture, entertainment, and tourism, Mr. Donatus Onyenji, jointly signed a statement announcing the ban.
According to the statement, the government has received a concerning number of petitions over the manipulation of gambling machines and the lack of transparency in winnings payouts, which prompted the prohibition.
According to it, the claims amounted to serious infractions of the industry’s international best practices, which the governor’s administration would not stand for.
This fraudulent behavior must be stopped right away because Prof. Chukwuma Soludo’s administration won’t allow it to flourish, according to a portion of the statement.
The Anambra government consequently directs proprietors of gaming establishments in hotels, restaurants, and bars to suspend all gaming and casino operations while investigations are underway.
