The persistent absence of the Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, at the public events organized for the Presidential candidates in the upcoming 2023 general election continues as he was reportedly represented by his vice presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima at a program, which was organized by Voice of Woman Empowerment Foundation in partnership with MacArthur Foundation, which is underway at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja.
This absence has generated mixed reactions from Nigerians who developed different opinions concerning his persistent absence. Although he was not the only prominent presidential candidate that was absent, includes Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and so on who are considered the four top presidential candidates in the race for 2023 general election.
However, at the event, the presidential candidates on the ground are Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), Prince Adewole Adebayo of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Abdulmalik Ado Ibrahim of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), and Hamza Al-Mustapha of the Action Alliance (AA). At the event, Peter Obi made scintillating speech that gave him a sound ovation from the women.
Recall that the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu was represented in August by Shettima at the NBA Annual General conference at Eko Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos state, in September at the National Peace Accord and others.
