I Feel The Only Way An Igbo Man Can Be President Is To Seek Partnership With The North – Nwodo

Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo

A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo while being interviewed on Arise TV’s Prime Time about the reactions that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi is getting from Nigerians said,

“the reaction Peter Obi is getting especially from the southeast and south-south is refreshing for our people. They feel that at least they are drawing attention to the justice, fairness, and equity that they demanded. I fear that there is no permutation in Nigeria by which zone can become president of Nigeria by itself. I had to go to interception, I had to look at the bigger picture. And I saw the golden days of democracy in Nigeria.

“We’re in the first and second republic. That the North did not make any pretenses of having a national party. They had Northern People’s Congress and Zik in the East had NCNC and it was an alignment between those that could form the federal government. That’s how he became president and Tafawa Balewa, Prime Minister. In the Second Republic, the same thing. NPN which was predominantly North could not form the government and had to align with NPP in the East.

“And that’s how Ekuweme became vice president and from NPP Somebody from the south also became the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Now, today we have a North West Alliance, I don’t know whether the West is sleeping peacefully in the bed without that alliance and I don’t know where Nigeria has found itself. So the East must seek that partnership with the North again and I feel that that is the surest way that an easterner can become president.”
