I Never Wrote Any Letter To Mr Anene Osadebe Of Ifite Ogbunike – Nwabunwanne declares

The Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Tonycollins Nwabunwanne has dissociated himself from a purported letter written to one Mr Anene Osadebe of Ifite village, Ogbunike in Oyi Local Government Area of the State.

In the said letter allegedly maneuvered by Mr Anene Osadebe, he was falsely, unacceptably and untraditionally referred to as Akaeze Ogbunike, a revered position in Ogbunike traditional ancient Kingdom and a title and position Mr Anene Osadebe is not entitled to and also grossly unqualified to hold.

Nwabunwanne was speaking in his office at Government House, Awka Tuesday, when the members of the Traditional Council of Ndi Ichie and Ogbuefi Ogbunike led by its President, Chief Nwafor Onyezia came to meet with Mr Commissioner over Mr Anene Osadebe’s act which the Council of Ndi Ichie and Ogbuefi Ogbunike regarded as a misnomer, abuse and derision of Ogbunike custom and tradition.

Commissioner Nwabunwanne reassured Ndi Ichie Ogbunike that as the Commissioner, he was aware of the situation in Ogbunike community and should not be a party to escalating the matter rather he would find a lasting solution to it to move the community forward in peace and unity.

Mr Commissioner furthermore promised Ndi Ichie Ogbunike that his office would retract the letter written to Mr Anene Osadebe to address it properly and also invite the Council soonest to spell out facts of the matter to Mr Anene Osadebe for him to stop parading himself as the Akaeze Ogbunike, the Traditional Prime Minister or Regend of Ogbunike.

Earlier, the eldest among the Council of Ndi Ichie/Ogbuefi Ogbunike Chief Ebeonadi Ejiamatu Ogbunike while briefing Commissioner Nwabunwanne said that it is a known fact that Mr Anene Osadebe has not been a red cap Chief in Ogbunike or a member of the Traditional Council of Ndi Ichie/Ogbuefi Ogbunike and cannot assume the position of the Traditional Prime Minister to Igwe Ogbunike.

In an Interview during the visit, a member of the Council, Comrade Chief Godwin Ibekwe expressed dissatisfaction over the character and attitude of Mr Anene Osadebe describing it as a catalyst for disunity and disorder capable of messing up the cultural and traditional mien of Ogbunike ancient Kingdom and vowed that the well-meaning citizens of Ogbunike should resist Mr Anene Osadebe’s machinations, noting that the activities marking the end of the era of the last Ogbunike Royal sage, Igwe Umunyiora shall hold this December and Ogbunike is poised to have a peaceful outing in honor of a royal legend.

More than 20 members of the Traditional Council of Ndi Ichie/Ogbuefi Ogbunike in their resplendent white apparel and red cap to fit joined in the visit to Mr Commissioner.
