Man United Star Casemiro Speaks Out On Ronaldo’s Manchester United Exit

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro admits he is “sad” to see Cristiano Ronaldo leave Old Trafford but has wished him the best for the future. Casemiro was speaking ahead of his country’s tie with Switzerland on Monday following their 2-0 win over Serbia on Thursday. Ronaldo’s Old Trafford contract was dramatically cancelled last week, the decision came after Ronaldo’s bombshell interview with Piers Morgan, in which he detailed his lack of respect for Erik ten Hag, as well as made allegations regarding the club, the owners and former teammates. Now, United will be forced to act in the January transfer window to bring in reinforcements for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. Their forward department is already significantly depleted, with only Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford filling the out-and-out striker role.

Cristiano Ronaldo could come into contact with former Manchester United team-mate Casemiro this week following his Old Trafford departure. Ronaldo and Casemiro also played together at Real Madrid, but the Brazil stalwart revealed he has not tried to contact his Portuguese associate since or during the dramatic fallout from his controversial Piers Morgan interview.

In Saturday’s press conference, he was asked about the exit of former United teammate Ronaldo, who he could meet in the knockouts. “I haven’t exchanged any messages with him, but Cristiano Ronaldo is a player with great experience, and he knows what’s best for his career,” he said. “Of course we are sad a player like him is leaving because we are talking about one of the best players of all time.” He added, smiling: “I wish him all the best in his football career – except when he plays against me – but I wish him all the best.”
