It was a sad moment for the people of Enugu state when unknown gunmen invaded New Market, engaged police men in a heavy gunbattle which led to the death of a prgenant woman and two other people in the area.
The Gunmen who were trying to enforce a Sit-at-home order, went to New Market in the morning on Saturday, 10th of December 2022 and started forcing people to go home.
The gunmen reportedly ran into some police officers who were on a patrol at the area and a heavy gun battle ensued between them. Sadly, the unidentified pregnant woman who had come to the market very early in the morning was said to have run into one of the stores at the market to hide but was hit by a stray bullet. She was reported to have died on the spot.
The police officers later fled the area when it became obvious the Gunmen had more firepower than them. A viral video would later show the Police patrol vehicle being set on fire by the Gunmen.
Akelicious also reported that two other people were also killed by the unknown Gunmen during the raid at the market.
