I Don't Regret I Ran For Presidency - Wike

The Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike celebrate his 55th birthday, while addressing is political associate, in his private residence in Rumueprikom, Wike has stated that he has no political axe to grind with the presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.




Recall that, after Atiku Abubakar won the PDP’s presidential ticket, the aggrieved governors which include Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State and Seyi Makinde of Oyo State moved that the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu who was from the North should resign and be replaced by a southerner from the party since it was wrong for the presidential candidate and the National president to hail from the same zone.

According to Independent Nigeria, Governor Nyesom Wike recalls how the elders of Rivers State urge him to contest for the forthcoming presidential election, he added that undoubtedly he heeded the advice and came second during the primary, he argue that he would have won the election, but its fine.

“I don’t regret I ran for presidency. In the name of God, I am happy to make Rivers State proud. I am happy as far I am concerned. If they had allowed it to be what it is supposed to be, I would have won the election. But it’s okay. It has happened.

“People said because I lost election, it doesn’t matter. I didn’t lose election. This is my first time of trying to run for the president of Nigeria and we made impact. If it is easy, let them go ahead. Are they not the ones begging.”
