The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has reacted to his words that are being used against him by the spokesperson of the Atiku/Okowa campaign. If you would recall that Wike said during the PDP convention that he will support any of the aspirants who wins during the primary till the very end. The likes of Senator Dino Melaye and Dele Momodu has charged at Governor Wike to fulfill his vow at the convention. Wike in a state press conference argued that there is a principle biding his words and that this sticks to the fact that he will support anyone who emerges if there was a free and fair election that day. According to him, the election was not free and fair and that is why he’s not supporting Atiku.
He said, ”People must possess and say the truth every time. I said I will support whoever that wins the PDP Primary election and I’m not running away from it. But to the principle that he has assured us that there will be a free and fair election. I said will support whoever that wins the PDP Primary election if it was free and fair but it wasn’t.
I mean, you called all the Presidential aspirants and everybody spoke. And to the basis of a free and fair election is only when we can give our voting and commitment. When we have started process, a presidential aspirant said he wanted to step down. But you now went further that people should vote for another aspirant after all our speeches have ended. Which of course I would have challenged it in court because it was completely marred by fraudulent activities.”
