An organization which plays advisory role to political parties and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC), Imo State Chapter, has commended the Governor Hope Uzodimma, on road construction/rehabilitation among other achievements.
IPAC also commiserated with Imo people and security outfits for the loss of their loved ones and officers in the state since 2015, praying that absolute peace returns to the state for its progress.
Speaking, during a press briefing held in Owerri, Wednesday, Chairman, Imo IPAC, Ichie Levi Eke, appreciated Uzodimma for his support, as well as considering the group by extending the Christmas largesse to IPAC. He encouraged the Governor to continue to do his best for the development and progress of the state.
Eke condemned the activities of some members of IPAC who he said parade themselves as G12, going against the lay down rules and principles of the body by setting up themselves as the recognized leadership of the organization, warning such individuals to stop creating confusion in IPAC, affirming that the only authentic elected leadership of the group in the state is the one led by him which is still intact.
He revealed that the alleged G12 members decided to kick against the leadership of IPAC when it refused their suggestion to use the body as an instrument to fight the government in power, which he mentioned has not done anything wrong to warrant the fight, adding that they are not surprised by their actions because they strongly believe those people were actually sponsored.
“in the recent time, some group of persons who call themselves G12, have been carrying themselves as the recognized leadership of Imo IPAC, we want to use this opportunity to state that the leadership of Ichie Levi Eke is very much intact, no change of leadership yet. We were duly elected and our tenure is to run for two years”, he posited.
He added that “the grievances of these men are that we refused to adhere to their cravings for us to use the instrumentality of IPAC to fight the sitting government even after we made them to understand that the government has done nothing wrong. Though, we are not surprised by their actions because we know they are being sponsored”.
On the accusation that the leadership of IPAC opened bank account to defraud Imolites, the Chairman challenged the group to provide any Imo citizen who has paid any dime into the said IPAC bank account.
Eke mentioned that the said G12 members last year were chosen as Committee Chairmen of Imo IPAC for its intended summit and were handed over millions of naira for execution of the project, but they eloped with the entire money, advising them to repent and make a U-turn now.
He charged political parties actors and candidates to play by the rules of the game, avoid hate speech and killings while bearing in mind that God has the final say in giving positions to people at the appointed time, appealing that political exercise be carried out with human face.
