Kazeem Afegbua, a member of the Tinuby/Shettima campaign council has reacted to the recent appraisals in which the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Gregory Obi is receiving after his lecture at the Chatham House. Afegbua stated in an interview with Central Tv that Asiwaju and the people in his camp won’t lose their sleep because of Peter Obi appearance at the Chatham House.
He clarified that Asiwaju is quite ahead of Peter Obi in this regards as he had already done that in December when election was still about two months to go. Afegbua argued that this is not the time to hold talks at Chatham’s house but a time to go to the Trenches and campaign to the people. He sees Peter Obi’s lecture at the Chatham house as a wrong timing that would yield no effect back here in Nigeria.
He said, ”I have said it repeatedly that I don’t even want to join issues with Peter Obi or his supporters. He has the right to contest elections by going about the way he feels. But my own candidate has since left Chatham’s house and he’s on the trenches campaigning for elections. If this is Peter Obi’s time to go to Chatham house that is good for him.
I’m not going to use such a platform to determine the capacity of the candidate vying for election in Nigeria. The fact remains that Peter Obi just went to Chatham house but BAT has put Chatham’s house experience behind him and he’s campaigning now across the country. We have crossed that hurdle and it’s a forgotten issue and we are now facing the rigorous of campaign.”
