The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has revealed in an interview today why he has felt disappointed with the Peoples Democratic Party leadership despite his love for the party. Governor Ortom alleged that there was an agreement among the Southern Governors that the Presidency ticket should be zoned to the South.
He lamented on how some Southern PDP governors frustrated the candidature of Wike in the primary election.
Governor Samuel Ortom identified that as a Northerner, he felt the presidency in the PDP should be zoned to the South just as the APC and that this is why he supported Governor Nyesom Wike. Ortom explained that he believed Wike would be the best person to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said, ”I’m really disappointed as you see me because for me when the Southern governors met and say, look we demand that Presidency should go to us in this South, I came out the following day and added my voice and said Yes what they have said is true, let us do it. So these are the issues. Arising from the convention that did not favor my candidate, Governor Nyesom Wike, whom I thought was the best material for the Presidency in this country.”
