Information slipping out from dissatisfied civil servants across Enugu State reveals that the PDP-led State government under the leadership of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi instructed all civil servants to shut down work activities and turn up at Okpara Square for the People Democratic Party rally.
The report is that the State Secretariat, public schools – both primary and secondary and even markets in Enugu State have been closed for the day under the guise of enabling people to pick up their PVCs when in reality, they are being forced to create an impression that the PDP candidate and the party, Peter Mbah is widely accepted by Enugu people.
This comes after two days of IPOB imposed sit-at-home in the state.
Given the abysmal performance of the PDP-led administration in the past seven years, there is hardly any expectations for proper decision-making by this incumbent governor. But it would seem that Ugwuanyi, in partnership with his chosen successor, Peter Mbah, has completely abandoned actual governance and democratic propriety for the chance to renew another four years of failure.
The civil servants are heading to Okpara Square to mark an attendance sheet and avoid punishment from the government.
However, the grumbling amongst them is a clear sign that the People’s Democratic Party has broken the camel’s back with this last straw of oppression.
