While speaking to APC supporters at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere on Tuesday afternoon for the final APC presidential campaign rally, Bola Tinubu took aim at Vice President of Nigeria Yemi Osinbajo for running against him in the APC primaries last year.
In his speech to his supporters, Bola Tinubu first thanked Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari for repaying a favor from 2015. Tinubu was among the people who backed Buhari and urged Nigerians to vote for him in 2015. He also claimed that he proposed Yemi Osinbajo to be Buhari’s running mate, but that he ran against Bola Tinubu in the APC primaries instead of stepping aside.
Bola Tinubu, who appears to still be taken aback by the vice president’s behavior, has emphasized that, during their confrontation, Yemi Osinbajo boasted that he had more experience than Tinubu and that he was more popular with Nigerians. When criticizing Yemi Osinbajo’s behavior, Bola Tinubu boasted that he had beaten Osinbajo in the APC primaries, becoming Tinubu the party’s nominee.
“I saved you to nominate for me,” Tinubu stated to Buhari, “just exactly like I did you in 2015 and you stood by.” “Osinbajo didn’t back me up, instead saying he’s more qualified and experienced,” but I was able to convince him otherwise.
