A leader of the PDP in the South East, Obunike Ohaegbu, has revealed details regarding an incident involving him and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State at a PDP event in Anambra State. During his interview on AIT News, Ohaegbu stated that the incident happened in 2017, when Governor Wike was warmly welcomed by his kinsmen in the southeastern state.
Addressing the topic, Ohaegbu said, “Our people have to be cautious.” I was privileged to work with the PDP in Anambra State in 2017 to deliver victory for the party at the state’s governorship election. However, Wike conducted the election for the delegates. The Rivers State governor received a loud ovation upon his arrival at the event venue. However, as usual in politics, some of the aspirants tried to create problems.
He added, “During the disruption, Governor Wike wanted to address Anambra people, but I approached him and urged him to speak Igbo because he was popular in Anambra State.” Wike responded in a strong tone by telling me that he does not speak “that” language. Interestingly, Wike has been singing an Igbo song of late. I think there is deception involved in the PDP conflict.
