An APC chieftain in Rivers state, Tony Okocha, has come out to commend the Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, for his support for the APC and their candidate to ensure their victory in the elections.
Mr. Tony Okocha revealed that, in the few weeks prior to the election, some APC members went to seek the support of the Rivers State governor in order to win Rivers State for APC in the polls.
In his words, “I feel so happy and elated about this election, because in 2015, in Rivers State, where I came from, when we had a PDP sitting governor, then I was the chief of staff, and we are all members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, but it was difficult for us to secure 25 percent of the votes for our presidential candidate, who is currently the ruling president, Muhammadu Buhari, but now as we speak, APC didn’t just get 25 percent of the votes in Rivers, we also won the state.
So, I give Kudos to the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike. Just a few weeks back, some of us went to beg the G-5 governors to sway support for the APC. Wike graciously accepted and threw all his weights for us, and now we can see the results.”
