Enugu State Chapter of Labour Party strongly condemns the gruesome, brutal and senseless murder of Barr. Oybo Chukwu, the Senatorial Candidate of Labour Party for Enugu East and five others in Amechi Uwani.
The shocking news of Barr. Oyibo Chukwu’s gruesome murder came to us as a thunderbolt. Barr. Oyibo Chukwu’s death is deeply distressing.
The circumstances behind his death and the manner in which he was murdered in cold blood alongside five other supporters, including his driver is nauseating.
His killers did not only shoot them but went ahead to burn their corpses. This is quite inhuman!, brutal, horrendous and highly condemnable.
We are not only saddened by the fact of their death but more painful is the fact that Barr. Oyibo was already coasting home to victory before he was mowed down by agents of darkness.
While we commiserate with the families of the deceased, we are calling on security agencies to swing into action in order to bring the perpetrators under the jurisdiction of the law without further delay in order to ensure that justice is served and to forestall a repeat of the unfortunate incident.
Finally, we are closely monitoring the handling of the case and shall respond as the need arises.
Enough is enough!
