Reno Omokri’s claim that Peter Obi rigged the 97% votes in Anambra in his favour during the governorship election has been met with strong backlash from the former Vice Presidential Candidate. According to his Interview on Arise TV, Monday, Obi vehemently denied the allegation and urged Omokri to conduct a thorough investigation.
I have never told anyone to add one single vote for me In the whole of Nigeria. You can meet people, Residents Commissioners, and INEC representatives and ask them. I have never begged anybody to rig an election for me. Go and ask the police, and security operatives if any of them have met Peter Obi. They are referees, and must be allowed to do their jobs,” Obi said in a video response.
The former governor of Anambra went on to explain that the 97% votes in his favour was due to his immense popularity in the state. “The issue of where I got 97% is in Anambra state and Reno Omokri has forgotten that, in 2019, when I contested as the Vice presidential candidate, where the PDP had the highest votes was in Anambra state. This is because they know me there,” Obi said.
In conclusion, Obi asserted that he never asked anyone to rig the election in his favour and he will never do so. He urged Omokri to conduct an unbiased investigation that will prove his innocence.
The allegation of rigging the 97% votes in Anambra has sparked a heated debate about Peter Obi’s involvement and his innocence. However, Obi continues to stand firm on his statement and maintains that he never asked anyone to rig the election in his favour.
