I’m Not Doing Any Political Party For Now, I’m Supporting Candidates - Dogara

Yakubu Dogara, a former House of Representatives speaker and representative for the Dass/Tafawa Balewa/Bogoro Federal Constituency, has declared that, at least for the time being, he is not a member of any political party and only supports candidates for elective positions in the general elections of 2023 regardless of their political affiliations.

Dogara stated this on Wednesday while participating in the Politics Today program on Channels Television.

Recall that Dogara left the APC for the PDP after vehemently criticizing the latter’s Muslim-Muslim ticket and announcing his support for Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate.

When questioned if he belongs to the PDP or the APC, Dogara responded that neither party considers him to be “unstable character” and added that he is not politically unstable.

In his words, he said, “I am supporting candidates; I am not doing any political party for now, I am supporting candidates.

Everyone is aware that I supported Atiku Abubakar for president for the reasons I made public, but in Bauchi State prior to the primaries ending, I had backed Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar’s bid for governor. I also have candidates for the House of Assembly running in my district,” he explained.

“I can’t give up on the Senate and House of Representatives candidates I assisted in getting elected because I need political stability,” he added.
