We Didn't Know That Rev. Fathers Went To Villages To Tell People To Vote For Peter Obi - Nwifuru

Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, Chief Francis Nwifuru, has claimed that Revered Fathers in the state went to villages to convince people to vote for the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, in the February 25 presidential election. While speaking on the factors responsible for Peter Obi’s victory in the state, Nwifuru said that he wasn’t aware that Revered Fathers and Bishops went to villages to campaign for Peter Obi. He added that he was later informed about the situation when it was already late.

During the interview on TVC, the APC governorship candidate alleged that the churches in the state changed their style and told the people that they should vote for the LP Presidential candidate. He said that the people weren’t willing to listen but they later agreed after they were told to vote for any candidate of their choice in the National Assembly elections.

“The Revered Fathers took us unaware. They went down to the villages to tell the people how to cast their votes. When the people tried to resist them, they told them to vote for the candidate of their choice for the National Assembly but vote Peter Obi for President.

We didn’t know, we didn’t get this information on time because anytime we called for a meeting, nobody told us anything. APC is very much on ground in Ebonyi but the only factor was that the churches convinced the electorates.”
