5 Killed In Security Forces, Hoodlums Gun Battle In Rivers State

Three persons suspected to be cultists were killed during an exchange of gunfire between Joint Security Forces comprising of the Nigerian Army and police on Saturday, during the governorship and House of Assembly elections in Ogbakiri community, Emohua Local Government Area, Rivers State




Another two were reportedly killed by the police in Bori, the traditional headquarters of Ogoni people in Khana LGA of the state during a protest.

A native of Ogbakiri community who pleaded anonymity disclosed that the hoodlums ran into the joint security forces at Rumuada clan farm road in Ogbakiri and immediately opened fire on sighting them.

The source said the joint security forces responded and, during the exchange of gunfire which lasted more than 30 minutes, three of the hoodlums were shot dead while others escaped.

Sunday Sun gathered that the bodies of two of the hoodlums were retrieved by the security operatives.

The source disclosed that personnel from Rumuji Divisional Police headquarters have also visited the scene.

The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko, was yet to confirm the the two incidents as of the time of filing this report.
