Actor and director Chidi Mokeme recently made a statement regarding the tribalism that people in the Western state experienced during the governorship and state assembly elections that were held last week Saturday. He was reflecting on recent events and the narrative that some people have created about ethnic groups.
The actor voiced his opinions on social media, criticizing the unexpected emergence of the term “Igbo people” for anyone who isn’t Hausa or Yoruba and the perception that the purported Igbo people are all a threat coming from Anambra state.
The actor responded further, claiming that the Igbo people had to shef blood once more for a contest between three Yoruba competitors.
Chidi Mokeme wrote on his page that, “Suddenly, All Non-Yoruba, Non-Hausa Persons Are IGBO. Suddenly, All IGBO Are From Anambra. Suddenly, All IGBO From Anambra Are A Threat. In A Contest Between Three Yoruba’s, The IGBO Have Once Again, Had To Bleed. But, It Didn’t Happen Suddenly.”
