Former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose has alleged that Igbos in the 2023 presidential election fully supported the LP presidential candidate, Peter Obi due to the fact that he is from their region, and as a Yoruba man, he couldn’t stay there and watch the President-elect, Bola Tinubu get politically murdered and that was why he supported him too.
the PDP chieftain who spoke during an interview at the last meeting of the G-5 stakeholders, they all concluded that they would work for either the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu or Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi. However he added that the choice of supporting Peter Obi or Asiwaju Bola Tinubu depended on the peculiarities of each individual’s state.
He further revealed he didn’t support Bola Tinubu secretly and he has always been sharing pictures of him and Bola Tinubu together and when he saw that his political career was about to get murdered after the Igbos had supported Peter Obi, he couldn’t stand there and watch them destroy Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
He said, “Igbos supported Peter Obi and as Yoruba, you don’t expect me to watch Tinubu get politically murdered. Peter Obi and Tinubu symbolically represent the interests of the south. At the last meeting of the G-5 stakeholders, we concluded that we would work for either Tinubu or Peter Obi. This depended on the peculiarities of each individual’s state. This is why I have to highly commend Governor Seyi Makinde (GSM) for standing his ground for Tinubu at the expense of his future. I do not befriend people secretly. Wike is my friend, and I stood with him and the G5 because their demands were fair, especially to the country”.
