The Executive Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu has given his verdict on the outcome of both the Senatorial election and the Governorship election in the state.
The Governor, who was a guest on Channels Television was asked if his loss in the Senatorial election and that of his party at the governorship election can be viewed as a rejection on his part. Governor Ikpeazu said “of course, Abia people rejected me at the polls.”
He went on to say that while they voted other candidates, they still love him. He said that he walks almost everyday on the streets of the commercial city of Aba but no one has pelted stones or other items at him.
It will be recalled that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu lost his Senatorial bid to the candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, Enyinnaya Abaribe. He actually came a distant third while the Labour Party candidate finished second as Senator Abaribe was declared the Senator Elect of Abia South Senatorial zone. Also, his party’s Governorship candidate, Sir Okey Ahiwe lost the Gubernatorial election to the candidate of Labour Party, Dr Alex Otti.
