Ikpeazu, Prof Otti

The Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, has expressed shock over the recent claims made by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer in Abia State governorship election, Prof. Nnenna Oti, following the conclusion of the elections. During an interview on Channels TV, Ikpeazu accused Prof. Oti of being biased, adding that he complained to INEC that she won’t be fair but the commission assured him that she was profiled.

Recall that Prof. Oti was welcomed by the management, staff, and students of the Federal University of Technology Owerri shortly after Alex Otti was declared the governor-elect. She told them that she was threatened and intimidated to change the will of the people but she stood on her principles.

While speaking on this, Ikpeazu made it clear that he never threatened anyone to change the outcome of the results. The governor said that he was shocked, adding that he has never met the electoral officer before. He further claimed that the way she reacted after the declaration shows that she is biased, adding that he complained to INEC before the election but they assured him about her.

“I have not met her before or spoken to her. If she is a professor, she should know that she doesn’t have the capacity to manipulate results. I’m shocked that she is making a big noise out of nothing. At some point, I complained to INEC that this lady won’t be fair but they told me that they profiled her. What she has done in the aftermath of her service in Abia shows that she is visibly happy with what she did, her level of bias favors one party over the other.”
