The Lagos state’s arm of the Ohanaeze Ndi’Igbo group has tendered apologies regarding some statements made by Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu and Reverend Father Ebube Muonso.
One of the members of the Lagos Ohanaeze Ndi’Igbo group, Engineer Joe Igbokwe said, “we think it is a childish talk for a reverend father to say that an Igbo Man equals five hundred (500) Hausa men.” He added, “we least expected Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu to describe some yorubas in Lagos as ‘political rascals’.”
Speaking also at the meeting of the Lagos state’s Ohanaeze Ndi’Igbo was the group’s vice, Honorable Idimogu who said, “we condemn the statements made by the two Igbo men. We are certain those statements must have been made in error.”
Again, Honorable Idimogu said, “we want the two elders to know that each ethnic group in Nigeria has something to bring to the table. We also urge them to withdraw their statements and apologize.”
Lastly, Honorable Idimogu said, “personally, I was embarrassed by the statements, particularly that of Father Muonso. We therefore appeal to Nigerians not to take their statements too seriously.”
