Purported N15bn Loan: Group Berates Enugu Opposition Politicians For Spreading Fake News

Enugu Youths Renaissance, EYR, has berated opposition political figures for promoting what it described as “dangerous narrative” in the state to achieve an objective which they couldn’t bring to fruition via the ballot.

EYR made the comment in reaction to the news flying on social media that the current state government is seeking for 15 billion loan with less than 2 months to the end of the administration.

The Ag. Publicity Secretary of EYR, Umeayo Caleb said the publication which isn’t only false is part of the new tactics deployed by the opposition to continue heating up the polity.

Umeayo maintained that if the claim isn’t for mischief, the promoters of the fake news should have known that the request for the said amount was made in November 2021 but the facility was never assessed till date.
“This style of opposition will destroy what we know as Enugu State if these desperate politicians aren’t called to order. How can anyone intentionally bring forth a fake news just to heat up the polity?” he asked.

“Every informed mind knows that the loan request was approved as far back as November 5th, 2021, at a time some of the current opposition figures were members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Its instructive to note that the loan was never assessed because of administrative issues.

“Our politicians should remember that fake news can bring the state to its knees and if they love this state as they’re mouthing, they should desist from this style of politicking.”
