Shi’ite members protest in Abuja

Some members of the Shi’ite Islamic sect stormed the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Thursday, March 30, on a protest.

The protesting Shi’ite members asked President Muhammadu Buhari to lift the travel ban placed on the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky and also release the International passports of El-Zakzaky, and his wife, Malama Zeenah, for a medical trip.

They held up banners and placards that read, “Buhari must remove the travel ban on Sheikh El-Zakzaky.” They were however dispersed by security operatives.

This is coming after a Federal High Court rejected an application filed by Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, asking the Department of State Services to release his passport and that of his wife.
