The Delta state police commissioner Muhammad Ali says the police inspector who shot and killed a cab driver along ilah road in OSHIMILI North local government area of Delta state, is presently in detention at the police headquarters Asaba.
In a statement made available to Akelicious by the state police command spokesperson Edafe Bright, said the killer cop identified as Inspector Ebri Ubi, was said to have shot and killed Onyeka Ibe at a police checkpoint on Wednesday while on stop and search duty, and the policemen hurriedly left the scene when angry youths took the corpse of the late Onyeka in a protest to the police headquarters in Asaba.
The Delta police commissioner while calling for calm, promised the family of the deceased justice as he expressed condolences over the death of the slain youth.
The detained policeman according to the police commissioner will remain in detention and prosecuted after investigation is concluded.
