The deputy national secretary of the Labour Party, Prince Kennedy Ahanotu has made a disclosure about the ongoing leadership tussle between the faction of the party loyal to Lamidi Apapa and the faction loyal to the embattled national chairman of the party, Julius Abure.
In an interview with Arise News, Ahanotu was asked: “What is the position of Peter Obi on all these conflicts in the party, has he intervened? Have you made any attempt to bring him into the picture to see how he can help resolve some of the crisis?”.
In his response, Ahanotu made it known that Peter Obi made a statement by attending the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting organized by the faction loyal to Abure. In his exact words, “Labour Party is an institution and Peter Obi is the leader of the party by virtue of being our presidential candidate that has made the party proud. Peter Obi was there at NEC, we had NEC meeting on 18th of this month in Asaba, you could see Peter Obi. What statement do you expect him to make on cases that are already flying around in court? He was there in the NEC organized by the party, so he has made a statement by appearing there”.
