Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress, APC has denied speculations that it has zoned the leadership positions of the 10th National Assembly to specific parts of the country.
The APC made the clarification in a statement issued on Thursday evening in reactions to speculations on the social media that the party which has majority of members elected into the two chambers of the National Assembly has decided on the part of the country the Speaker and the President of the House of Representatives and Senate will come from.
APC, in a statement by Barr. Felix Morka, its National Publicity Secretary, denied issuing any statement on the zoning of the positions.
The party said it has not taken any decision on where to zone the leadership position of the 10th National Assembly.
“The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to versions of zoning arrangements for the 10th National Assembly leadership positions in circulation in sections of social media. The information did not emanate from the Party and should be disregarded.
“To be clear, the Party has yet to zone positions of leadership of the 10th National Assembly. Any decisions made in that regard will be duly communicated via the Party’s official information channels,” the party said.
