The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) transition committee headed by Dr Baffa Bichi has stormed the Public Procurement Bureau office and alleged that outgoing Governor Umar Abdullahi Ganduje sold the place to his son, Abba Ganduje, at the cost of N10 million.
Baffa Bichi who led other transition committee members to the procurement office discovered that all the operating office tools were removed to pave way for the buyer to take control.
Speaking after going round the deserted office, Dr Baffa Bichi said what the Ganduje government was doing at the last lap of his administration left much to be desired.
“We are deeply worried that the manner in which the government of Ganduje is mortgaging common franchise and common properties of the good people of Kano is grossly unacceptable.
“This is vandalism, they are vandalising and uprooting every structure available in the state, this is not good for a government that was given eight good years to serve but has resorted to unpatriotic actions,” he said.
Bichi said; “We are aware that this structure was sold to his son at less than N10 million and the boy has allegedly sold the place at N300 million.”
He warned that anybody who engages in buying the properties would have himself to blame.
When contacted, the state attorney general, Musa Abdullahi Lawal, said he was not aware of the said deal and would not comment on what he doesn’t have knowledge about.
In the same vein, the state commissioner for information, Malam Mohammed Garba, said he was not in the picture of the transaction but promised to make inquiries and revert to newsmen.
